To view or use the current version of this Web page you may need to reload or refresh the display of this page by your browser. Just clicking on the browser's [Reload] or [Refresh] icon may not be enough to insure that all of the page's most current contents have been cached and displayed. Some browsers may have additional commands to help display the page's most current contents such as: holding down the [Shift] key and clicking on the [Reload] icon, holding down the [Control] key and clicking on the [Refresh] icon, holding down the [Control] and [Shift] keys and clicking on the [Refresh] icon, pressing the [Control] and [F5] keys, pressing [Control] and the [R] key, or some other combination of keys or clicks. Check to see which commands your HTML browser uses to load the most current page contents into its cache and then to display them onto the screen.
This Web site is dedicated to the thousands of "users" of my programs, those who have helped test my programs over the last 22 or so years, and especially those who shared their experiences with me.

SECTION: 1 has some "general" information about my CAD and CAM programs, information about this Web site (HTML document), and "news" relating to the aforementioned. See also the program files in your distribution of my programs and the other parts of this HTML documentation (Web site) for information more specifically about how my programs operate and their commands.
Here I will discuss the filenames used in this Web site (HTML document) so that if you have downloaded a set of files as a ZIP file, or other archive, you can know what my thoughts were as to how the files should be installed for use on your harddisk or used with my programs. I am not sure if I will come out with a CD- ROM version of this HTML document, but if I do you may be able to install the files from a CD-ROM on your harddisk and so alter the default size of the graphics and use whatever other options I might have built into the file structure. If I name the graphic files of different sizes for the same subject the same, then you might be able to copy the larger size file to over write the default graphic size file.
Some of the filenames used in this HTML document: INDEX.HTM Index or "Home Page" for the HTML document. S???????.HTM Sections of the HTML document. D???????.??? Drawing file for display. P???????.??? Photo file for display. V???????.??? Photo from video tape for display. ????????.JPG J-PEG graphics file. ????????.GIF GIF graphics file. ????????.ZIP Archive of files in ZIP condensed format. ????????.EXE Self-extracting ZIP file, or program file. ????????.COM Program file, mostly 8 bit real memory mode. C???????.RM RealPlayer (tm) type video and audio clip. A???????.MP3 Compressed audio file, may be Zipped as well.
The sections of this HTML document are numbered: 00.00.00.0 through 99.99.99.9, (i.e. file names S0000000.HTM to S9999999.HTM) with a few exceptions such as Appendix B where the last digit is replaced with the letter in the set A to Z. So, file S0501031.HTM would be SECTION: 5.1.3.1 of the HTML pages, that is section 5, sub-section 1, sub-sub-section 3, sub-sub-sub-section 1. The idea with the sub-sections is that related material is in the same sub-section and the sub-sub-sections give more detailed information.
The graphic files can come in different sizes, with the smaller ones being the default size so that the HTML pages will download faster from the Internet. If you are using a copy of this HTML document on your harddisk you might copy the larger size graphic files to the sub-directory on your harddisk with the HTML files in it, so that the default graphic file size will be larger. The larger graphic files are kept in sub-directories so that the links below the graphics can be clicked on to view a larger graphic if one is available in a particular distribution. The filenames of the larger graphic files have the same name as the smaller ones, of the same subject, so that you might be able to copy over the default files to change the size of the default files that come up when the page loads.
How you might change one of the default graphic sizes: C:\HTML>COPY C:\HTML\640\*.* C:\HTML\*.*
Within the ZIP file archives there might be from one to several files. If the *.ZIP archive is for use with my programs some of these file extensions, listed below, might be part of the filenames you will see in the ZIP archive file's file directory.
Some filenames that may be used in my ZIP files: ????????.COM Program file for PC, mostly 8 bit real memory mode. ????????.EXE Program file for PC, or self-extracting archive. ????????.OVR Overlay file. DANCAD??.0?? Overlay file. ????????.BAT DOS batch file. DEMO????.BAT DOS batch file to run a demo for the programs. GO??????.BAT DOS batch file to run something. README??.BAT DOS batch file to show text you need to read first. INSTALL?.BAT File to install files on your harddisk before use. ????????.MAC Macro program file for DANCAD3D.COM (tm). ????????.SUB Sub-Macro program file for a *.MAC file. ????????.ASC ASCII 3D drawing file or tool path for CAM. ????????.2D 2D drawing file CAD. ????????.3D 3D drawing file CAD. ????????.3DE 3D drawing as a set of 3D element files CAD. ????????.FON Font file for drawing with my CAD programs. ????????.808 Screen Font file for my programs in CGA mode. ????????.814 Screen Font file for my programs in non-CGA modes. ????????.ALI Alias symbol file index file. ????????.TXT Text file to read. README??.TXT File you need to read before using other files. README??.DOC File you need to read before using other files. ????????.DOC Text file to read, documentation. ????????.BMP BMP image file. ????????.NIP My Nipkow type image file, 48 bit per pixel etc.
Read also all the instructions in SECTION: 9, on the download pages, and the other sections of this HTML document before you try to use any of the files that are for use with my programs. The example macro files and their data files generally need to be in the directory DANCAD3D.COM (tm) is installed in to work properly. The font files should be put into the FONT\ sub- directory off of DANCAD3D.COM (tm)'s sub-directory. The alias index files and their symbol files should go into the ALIAS\ sub- directory off of DANCAD3D.COM (tm)'s sub-directory.
Sometimes drawing data files will have their extension replaced with a number, i.e. SOMENAME.1, SOMENAME.2, and so on. You can sometimes check the accompanying macro file to see what the data file type is. Many of such data files are in the ASCII 3D drawing data type, or sometimes screen PIXEL files.
To "unzip" the ZIP files you will need a third party program that can "unzip" archive files. Most people that use the Internet already have such a program, if you do not, you can probably download such a program from one of the many companies that sell software or distribute free programs on the Internet. I do not provide programs that unzip or open ZIP archive files, nor do I distribute any HTML browser programs at this time.
